Automotive Reviews
The newly redesigned 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee retains the model’s standard of utility and passenger comfort while increasing its focus on luxury and off-road ability. The Grand Cherokee is now a worthy rival to offerings from other luxury brands such as Land Rover, BMW, and Mercedes. Thanks to its luxurious cabin, which includes features such as quad-zone temperature control, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, as well as a segment-exclusive dash screen on the passenger side, this Jeep surpasses expectations and should be considered by shoppers seeking an off-road capable luxury SUV
We tested the Grand Cherokee with the 3.6-litre V6, and it performed well. The V6 engine does an excellent job of powering this large SUV, providing ample power for daily use, such as merging onto the highway or overtaking other cars. The steering feels light, and considering the size of this SUV, the on-road handling is respectable. If the V6 doesn’t offer enough power for your needs, you can opt for the 5.7-litre V8, which has 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque.
The U-Connect 5 system, along with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, comes as standard equipment in the Jeep Grand Cherokee. For those who want a bigger screen, an optional 10.1-inch screen with navigation is available. This upgraded screen also includes wireless support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, providing seamless smartphone integration. The interface of the U-Connect 5 system is well-designed, offering a user-friendly experience. It presents a nice and straightforward layout, making it easy to navigate through various menus and settings. Additionally, the infotainment is responsive, quickly registering inputs, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.
We also appreciate the placement of the heated seats and steering wheel controls as they are positioned away from the screen, enabling easy access and adjustment without interfering with the main interface. The technologically advanced and user-friendly nature of the Jeep Grand Cherokee enhances the overall driving experience.
The Grand Cherokee’s cabin has undergone a luxurious makeover, featuring high-end materials and equipment that rival European competitors. The seats are spacious and comfortable, and you can even equip them with the optional massaging feature. The interior creates an open and cozy atmosphere, thanks to the quad-zone climate control system and expansive panoramic roof. All the controls are responsive, and the piano-black trim adds a touch of elegance to the interior, although it is prone to scratches. With one of the largest cabins in its class, this Jeep offers ample room for occupants.
The ride quality of the Grand Cherokee is great, providing a smooth and comfortable experience on different road surfaces. The suspension system is well-tuned, effectively absorbing bumps and imperfections on the road. There is not much road and wind noise at higher speeds, making the cabin a great space to spend time in.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee offers ample cupholders and spacious console bins, providing plenty of storage options for smaller items. When it comes to accommodating car seats, the rear seat of this vehicle offers generous space. The outer seats are equipped with two sets of anchors, conveniently hidden under stylish leather covers.
In terms of cargo capacity, folding down the rear seats in a 60/40 split configuration yields a substantial 781.5 litres of luggage space. If both seats are folded down, the trunk’s capacity expands even further to 1,549 litres.
The Grand Cherokee’s fuel efficiency for the 3.6L V6 is 12.3/9.2 L/100 km (city/highway) and for the V8 it is 16.7/10.9 L/100 km (city/highway).
